Ever since Laser Flash temporarily suspended operations on Friday, March 13th, we’ve been planning and preparing for our Grand Reopening. According to Governor Holcomb’s Roadmap to Safely Reopen Indiana, Laser Flash is expected to reopen on June 18th
1. We were the first to close.
To protect our customers and employees, Laser Flash closed the morning of Friday, March 13th. Other amusement and entertainment centers in central Indiana followed our lead Monday night, March 16th, after Gov. Holcomb issued an executive order requiring them to close.
2. We’ve been deep cleaning and repairing.
During our closure the owners have been deep cleaning the facility and performing some small plumbing repairs. We hired Ceiling Pro Indy to help with our deep cleaning efforts.
3. We paid our employees.
We paid our employees on March 20th for all the hours worked prior to our closing. We paid them again on April 24th even though they have not been able to work for more than 40 days. We plan to continue paying our employees until they are able to return to work.
4. We paid our vendors.
Our landlord and most of our vendors allowed us to postpone payments while we figured which end was up. We started paying all those bills this week. Each vendor is a company just like us with bills and employees to pay.
5. We put all our Memberships and Flash Passes on hold.
All recurring Membership payments were stopped during our shutdown. Once we reopen, the number of days that were left on any Membership or Flash Pass on March 13th will be restored.
Here’s what we are putting into place now for our upcoming but June 14th Grand Reopening.
6. Training our employees.
During Stage 3 of Back On Track Indiana, Laser Flash will remain closed to the public. At that time we will start bringing in our employees to review existing procedures and to learn new procedures. We have already arranged with the Hamilton County Health Department to assist in this training.
7. We will conduct a Soft Opening with our employees.
8. There will be a free party for health care workers, first responders, teachers, and their families and for 2020 graduates.
Once we enter Stage 4 of Back On Track Indiana, instead of immediately throwing our doors open to the public we will have several days of free laser tag but only for the families of health care workers, first responders, and teachers. Since this will be a party there will of course be cake. After a couple of days of those private parties we will have one more day of free laser tag just for graduating seniors.
9. Upgrading and improving our laser tag.
LASERTRON is our laser tag supplier. They are located in Buffalo, NY. New York has been hit hard during this pandemic. LASERTRON has been working throughout this shutdown on improving and adding exciting new laser tag game formats. These upgrades will require new chips be installed on all of our laser tag vests. We are hopeful we can complete those upgrades here at Laser Flash in the near future.
10. Thanking our Customers!
We are planning ways to thank our customers. We have some cool items to give away. We are also looking for ways to enhance our Membership program.

On Friday, March 13th, Laser Flash temporarily closed to the public as a Coronavirus precaution.
Official recommendations are constantly evolving. Some are advocating banning gatherings of more than 50 people for the next eight weeks.
I do not foresee reopening Laser Flash before the end of the month. However, the advantage of being a small business is we can change quickly if conditions warrant.
Last Friday I contacted all of my vendors asking if I can postpone paying my bills until after Laser Flash reopens. Most agreed which minimized the amount I had to borrow to pay my employees this week.
I wish to publicly thank the companies which readily agreed to postpone billing without penalty: Shaffer Distributing, Nelson Alarm, Money Mailer, Ray’s Trash Service, Mister Ice of Indianapolis, Spectrum, and Orkin. Still waiting to hear from some others. I see Duke Energy has posted on their website they will not disconnect during this emergency but they did not mention late fees. Spectrum specifically mentions on their website no disconnect and no late fees for businesses impacted by the Coronavirus.
I will contact each group which has a reservation in the coming two weeks. Deposits on those reservations can be moved when it is rescheduled, or put onto a gift card, or refunded. Please contact me about the specifics of your reservation.

I am writing to you not as Laser Flash the corporation, rather as an individual who is taking personal responsibility for a decision which will impact many people.
Laser Flash will temporarily close to the public effective immediately.
I hesitated to make this decision because I did not want to inconvenience families who were planning celebrations at Laser Flash. I also believe there is value in providing the community a positive outlet such as Laser Flash during a time of stress.
I do not know how effective “social distancing” will be in disrupting the spread of the virus.
Yet I decided to take the lead among local entertainment centers and be the first to suspend our hours for two reasons. First, people could be ill and infectious 10 to 14 days before they exhibit symptoms. Second, I did not want to circumvent the intentions of school closures by being a gathering place for families.
I will re-evaluate the changing situation each day and decide when it is prudent to reopen. This closure will be at least through Monday, March 16th. Check back for details on our website.
If you have a Laser Flash recurring membership, the auto-renewals are being turned off after today. When we reopen, the number of days of our closure will be automatically added back to all memberships and Flash Passes which are active today.
This will be difficult for my employees and for me and my family. These are difficulties which are being shared by many of you.
I urge you to look after your family and your neighbors.
Gift card: If you want to help local businesses and your favorite restaurants weather this storm and help them pay their employees, purchase a gift card directly from the business. Then use the gift card to celebrate when they reopen. Below are links to purchase gift cards from Laser Flash
