Grand Re-Opening for Laser Flash

This spring has seen many changes at Laser Flash in Carmel, a popular entertainment center for families throughout central Indiana.

The most noticeable change has been the addition of a Noble Roman’s pizza restaurant. Guests are able to enjoy high quality pizza baked fresh on-site along with breadsticks, buffalo wings, and hot sub sandwiches. Fresh hot food is available during all hours that Laser Flash is open. Baking pizza on-site has improved customer service and offers more flexibility to parties, youth groups, corporate events, and over night lock-ins.

Laser Flash took advantage of the remodeling period to add a little bit more space to the bathrooms and to the party area.

Another very visible change has been the addition of two new arcade games - Big Rig Truckin’ and Wheel Deal. Both games are redemption games that reward players with tickets that can be exchanged for prizes. Laser Flash has worked closely with its supplier to ensure new and exciting games are always being added to the game room. A third game, In The Groove, is on order and should arrive in May. In The Groove is a new and very popular dancing game for 1 or 2 players.

A major change that may not be readily apparent to guests is the conversion to a new integrated reservation and point of sale system. The new software not only improves the behind the scenes operations at Laser Flash, there are also plenty of benefits for guests at the center. The new system allows Laser Flash to accept reservations to play laser tag for any size group up to months in advance. "This is something our customers have been asking for since almost the day we opened," says Mando Lanuti, a long time manager at Laser Flash.

The new point of sale software is tightly integrated to the laser tag gaming software. All players now receive a membership card when they play laser tag. Players choose their own code name to use during the laser tag game. When a player swipes their membership card to enter a game, their code name is entered into the game computer and appears on the scoring monitors during the game and is printed on the individual score sheets at the end of the game.

At the beginning of each laser tag session, referees brief guests on how to play and the details of the game format. A high-tech video using sophisticated computer-generated animation has been added to explain the basics of each game. The video ensures consistency of the information in the briefings and adds to the entertainment value of the laser tag session.

The structure of the laser tag sessions have also changed. Studies suggest that players around the country prefer multiple shorter games of laser tag over one long game. The shorter games are less tiring and multiple games give teams more chances to win during a session of laser tag. In the new structure, each session of laser tag consists of three games of laser tag. The total playing time and price of the new session is the same as two of the old sessions. Under the new structure players who play two sessions will pay much less than they would have paid to play the same amount of tag under the old structure. Manager Dan Horvath says the new format is a win for customers because “it increases the amount of play time per hour while decreasing the price per minute.”
