February 22, 2007 Laser arena good for SWAT training When temperatures dip below zero and a foot of snow is on the ground, the Carmel SWAT Team looks for indoor training options. Twice this winter, the Carmel SWAT Team has trained in the laser-tag arena at Laser Flash. With the programmable game software from Lasertron, the staff at Laser Flash can customize a training program for the Carmel Police Department. Some of the members of the SWAT team play the role of bad guys and hide out in the 7,800-square-foot arena. The other members of the team try to flush them out without being tagged. The idea of using Laser Flash for training was suggested by police Sgt. Adam Miller. He helped design four different training scenarios by selecting appropriate parameters in the laser-tag software. These game formats, among 150 stored formats, can be recalled when the SWAT team trains. For more information, visit www.laser-flash.com or call (317) 571-1677. Peter Murphy is owner of Laser Flash.
